What NED Can Do
According to the software capabilities section, NED supports:

This is Navistar’s top-level diagnostic application for engines from MaxxForce, N-Series, N13, N9/N10, A26, and more.
System Requirements (PC)
- Windows Vista, 7, or 10 (64-bit recommended)
- 1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD Athlon X2 or better
- 2 GB RAM (32-bit) or 4 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 300 MB free disk space
- Internet required for updates
- Display: 1024×768 or better
- RP1210A-compatible adapter (J1708/J1939). We recommend the Nexiq USB Link 3.
Install NED
- Download the installer. This was provided in the email you received with your registration information.
- Run Navistar Engine Diagnostics Setup.exe.
- Click Next → Accept the License Agreement → Install.
- Check the box Run Navistar Engine Diagnostics → Finish.
Enter Product Key & Register
- When NED launches for the first time, enter the product key.
- If valid, choose Existing User = Yes or No.
- If you’re a new user:
- Complete the registration window.
- Wait for the confirmation email.
- Follow instructions to create your password.
- Log in via the User Authentication window.
Firewall Requirements (Critical)
Allow outbound access to:
*.navistar.com*.internationaldelivers.com*.amazonaws.com*.cloudfront.net
If these are blocked, NED will not activate and will stop working after 30 days.
Launching NED
- Desktop icon
- Start Menu
- Right-click → Open
You will always see the User Authentication Window on launch.

Vehicle Information Pane
Shows:

- Engine Hours
- Total Miles/Fuel

3. DTC Panel
View & clear:
- Active
- Previously Active
- Pending
- Freeze Frame
Connecting to an Engine
- Log into NED.
- Connect RP1210 adapter → vehicle → Key ON Engine OFF.
- If not auto-selected:
Connection → Select Com Link
- Click the COM Link button to start probing.
- When connected, the indicator turns green.
NED will identify:
- Supported engine (full features)
- Unknown engine (DTC-only mode)
Simulation Mode
View parameters, tests, and signals for training without a truck connected.
Menu:
Connection → Select Engine → Simulate Non Connected Engine

Freeze Frame Data
Click Open next to fault.
Clear DTCs
Key ON Engine OFF
- Click Clear DTCs.
- Select modules (if viewing all).
Text extracted from DTC panel:
- DTC column
- SPN column
- FMI column
- Type column (Active / Previously Active / Pending)
- Show All Modules button
- Clear DTCs button
Snapshots (Recording & Playback)
- Use Record Session or Record All
- Set sample interval.
- Save automatically to the Snapshots folder on desktop.
- Playback includes graphs and selectable signals.

Viewing Parameters
Go to:
Sessions → Programming
Access Levels
Levels include: Software, Engineering, Programming, Customer Password, Dealer, Fleet, Available.
Editing & Programming
- Click Value.
- Enter New Value.
- Press Enter.
- Click Program Engine.
Customer Password
8-character password → Program Engine.
Exporting Parameters
File → Export Parameters
Recommends VIN + date naming.
Templates
- Create templates for PTO settings, road/cruise speeds, shift settings, service intervals.
- Load templates and program multiple trucks quickly.
- Lock templates.
